Here is a sneak peak before I post the finished project. I want to thank everyone once again for joining me as I made these boxes. They will have more meaning for my wife and daughter than I can share here. They represent a once in a life time opportunity that they spent together. It is said that swimming with dolphins is one of the most healing things you can do for the spirit. I agree with this, but we cannot all swim with dolphins, so remember that making something for those you love, with all your heart can be just as healing.

And with that I will leave you with a picture and a wish.

The picture:

And the wish:

I wish for you all to remember what Christmas is about. It is about the act of giving with the expectations of nothing in return.

Happy Holidays to all and I will see you next time.

Thanks you so much for letting me share my experiences with you.

Multi-Purpose Office Furniture: Desk/Bed

Do you remember this June when I asked the question “What if you lived in your office?” Well, if that scenario is coming true for you, I’ve found the perfect Christmas present. The Murphy bed/desk. This isn’t at all like you’d imagine it from cartoons about wall beds growing up. It won’t suddenly release from a hidden compartment in the wall and bonk you on the head. Modern designs are actually stylish and clever.

For example, the actual brand name Murphy Desk Bed makes it super simple to transition from desk to bed without even removing anything from the desk surface (and without gluing everything down). The desk surface lowers to the ground with your computer monitor, hard drive, office supplies, and desk accessories remaining nice and level. The bed folds down from what looks like a storage unit. It covers all the equipment, effectively protecting it from being disturbed.

The architectural firm Thomas Phifer and Partners is the author of this beautiful apartment interior design, housed in a residential building built in a year as symbolic as 1929 and located in the very Fifth Avenue in New York. The apartment floor plan is 140 m2, which previously was part of a larger housing area, welcomes you with its bright lobby, minimalist and at the same time spacious.

The Concept of Apartment Interior Design

The size of the apartment exudes a classic flavor and offers a silent dialogue between twentieth-century modernist furniture and more modern language of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MMA), which is located across the street.

The apartment windows are framed in polished stainless steel mirrors capriciously playing with the forms and bring glimpses of sky and street views. From some angles, producing a multiplicity windows and remember almost kaleidoscopic visual complexity of the Cubist collages.

When I was a kid, Santa would not come unless I cleaned out my room first. We hauled out bags of trash and donated toys to make room for new stuff. And then as I got older, I stopped wanting new stuff, but I still really wanted to clean out my apartment. I love the cleanliness and the lightness that comes from clearing away the clutter. But the holidays…they are an explosion of stuff and clutter.

Don’t throw a clutter bomb at someone! Here are some alternative gift ideas that are awesome but won’t get someone kicked out of the cult of less:

  • Monthly flower delivery. Fresh flowers in the house is one of my favorite indulgences. The air smells prettier (without toxic chemicals), and a good bouquet just lights up a room. Spare someone the agonies of trying to justify the cost or occasion and just send a fresh bouquet once a month. Check ou
