How much sugar comes with all that? About 4,500 teaspoons per person per year just from soda. Consumption of beverages that are high in calories but poor in nutritional value is the number one source of added sugar and excess calories in the American diet. Its also fueling Americas soaring obesity and has pushed diabetes to the top of the charts; its now Number 7 on the cause of death list.

More than one-third of U.S. adults (over 72 million people) and 17 percent of U.S. children are obese. The crushing healthcare costs associated with obesity—estimated to be as high as $147 billion a year—prompted the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to list reducing the intake of sugary drinks as one of its chief obesity prevention strategies in 2009.

We have all dreamed of owning a farm and living off the land and our own toil. Sadly, most of us will never achieve that goal. The next best thing is to start a garden. Here are a few tips to help you make the best of your space.

If you have a good amount of land you should construct some large raised beds. They are the best option for growing the most varieties of plants but they take the most effort to construct. They also take up the most room.

I suggest getting a couple storage sheds. They help keep your tools organized and protected from the elements and jealous neighbors. There are a lot of different kinds of metal storage sheds but the more land you have the bigger you are going to want your shed.
