A few tips for effective summer clean-ups From end-of-the-school-year parties to backyard barbeques, there are plenty of ways to enjoy summer. However, with the fun comes the planning and the clean-up. The Whirlpool Institute of Kitchen Science has you covered: If youre planning a summer party, follow these tips from the Institute of Kitchen Science for quick and easy clean up so you can spend more time having fun in the sun.
SPLATTER Barbeque sauce splatter on the cooktop? To clean the control panel on your stove, spray an appliance cleaner, such as affresh kitchen and appliance cleaner on a soft cloth or sponge do not spray directly on the panel. Wash, rinse and dry knobs thoroughly do not soak the knobs. Remember to clean food spills containing acids, such as vinegar and tomato, as soon as the entire range is cool as these spills may affect the finish.
SPILLAGE Party punch spill in the refrigerator? Remove any drawers or bins and wash in the kitchen sink with dishwashing liquid. Wash the inside of the refrigerator with a scrub or dishcloth dont forget to wash the compartments on the door.
LEFTOVERS Warming up leftovers? To remove food that has splattered in the microwave which can affect the smell of the kitchen use a damp cloth and mild soap or a water-based cleaner. Avoid using ammonia- or bleach-based cleaners in the microwave. Spray the cleaning cloth then wipe the microwave. Grease filters can be removed and washed in the dishwasher for easy cleaning. Most microwave models also include a dishwasher safe, removable turntable for easy cleaning and maintenance.
