A five year old boy in China, who was playing near an 8-inch space difference with two houses, was trapped in it and had to be assisted by rescue workers so that he could get out. The people who helped tried everything, including spraying oil on the boy, as well as using an inflatable mattress.
The mattress helped to widen the gap, so that the boy can be freed. Within thirty minutes of rescue, the 5 year old did actually get out of where he was stuck, much to the relief of everyone hoping he would be freed.
The use of the inflatable mattress as is a clever one. Its a good thing someone had a quick thought and saw that the mattress could work. Staying trapped in between the walls would have left the child exhausted and suffocated.
