For the people who want to continue living like Jedis, here is a chair made of plexiglass for you. This is the Interlux Armchair, something that should put you close to being a Jedi Knight similar to that of Star Wars fame.

Designed by Manfred Kielnhofer, these are chairs that can also light up thanks to two fluorescent tubes embedded inside it. But with rarity and quality comes a price. These Interlux Armchairs cost $2,500 a pop. So if you are interested in getting these cool chairs, be y to shell out and pay for its uniqueness.

A study conducted in Florida has discovered that thousands of microbes, fungi, molds and other bacteria can grow in pillows and mattress pads in college dormitories.

The study has also revealed that college mens bedding are twice as likely to be more infested, with yeast and mold ever present in more than half the subjects tested. Mattress pads, on the other hand, have four times more infestation than pillows.

And its something that students at university dont really think about.

With so many activities and school work to do, bedding cleanliness is less of a priority. And dormitories are filled with people coming in and out of each others bedroom, as well as doing stuff that has less to do with actual sleeping (like eating or drinking booze and chips on the bed).

There is a risk here because students are sleeping with bacteria that may likely cause or trigger health problems at a later age.

I’m in Toronto visiting my mother and getting ready for a major gathering at the University of Toronto to honor my father, so I won’t be posting much this week. Still, I couldn’t resist trying to describe yesterday’s weather.

The day was so cold and blustery day that Con said she’d feared my plane wouldn’t be able to land. We were eating dinner, and the winds and snow she described were hard to imagine, or believe in. From her eighth-floor apartment, we looked south over a sunny citiscape towards Lake Ontario, blue in the distance. Above it all, occasional clouds swept across a blue sky. But as I’d left my plane several hours earlier, I’d been buffeted by a crosswind between plane and jetway that had startled me.

Then I got to see one of the sudden storms she said had swept across the city all day.

We were trading news and plans for the week when I interrupted her to say that it looked as if it was raining off to the west. A moment lat

The tagline for this year’s Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC)was “The Beginning of Next,” which either sounds like a clever adaptation of the title of Dickens’ novel Great Expectations, or the start of a talk by a Zen tea master. I guess the beginning of Next is really the end of Now – and for many builders and developers that would be a good thing. In any case, the conference was smaller and more intimate than previous ones. Here’s wh

A few months ago, it seemed that my father was going to fade away unremembered save by those of us who loved him most. Now we’re wondering if the room reserved for the memorial is big enough.

That’s been the experience, over and over in various ways, during the months of planning for this gathering at the University of Toronto.

On the phone a couple of weeks ago, my mother Connie told me that her sister had offered to take any family in town out to dinner. “Then I told her how many were coming—“

“Oh no.”

“And there was this silence—”

“Oh, my gosh, she must have offered when there were only a couple.”

“Exactly. I think she’d expected three or four people.”

“Well, so did we! But she can’t possibly take us all to dinner.”

“No, of course not.”

How could we have imagined such a problem, two months back?

Porch or verandah is a good place for the house owners to spend their time. But this is possible only when it is decorated properly and with good decorating ideas. The people who love ice cream can make use of the ice cream accessories to decorate the house. Even a black and white combination serves to be a good choice in creating a perfect verandah.

Creating a perfect porch is not going to take long time, it’s a matter of proper planning along with the use of proper materials. If you plan for creating verandah in less than 72 hours time, it’s possible. Make use of the material available in the home, apply your own thoughts. Make use of good color combination like use of bright color along with the dark one. You can also opt to place candles in the porch to make it appear bright and glowing in the night time.
